New Design
macOS Big Sur features the first major MacOS redesign, with an up-to-date, but familiar Apple look focused on translucency, coherence and content.
Menu Bar and Control Center
The menu bar is now transparent at the top of your monitor to better blend into the desktop, and when not in use, it can also be hidden much like the dock. With more distances between lines, pull-down menus are easier to read. All icons and dropdowns on the menu bar are redesigned and in particular, again, the battery icon gives details about how long battery life remains.
The menu bar features a new Mac Control Center with quick Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, volume, brightness display, keyboard luminosity, playback and switches such as Dark Mode, True Tone, Night Shift, Do Not Disturb and AirPlay. The Control Center can be customized to set the functions you use to your fingertips most often. You can drag and drag your favourite menu items to the top of the menu bar for fast access.
System Sounds
All traditional Mac sounds are “plus pleasant to the ear” and are updated. Each sound was created with original sound snippets, so it sounds both familiar and new at the same time.
Notification Center
The Notification Center has been redesigned to combine incoming notifications with widgets in a single view, providing more information at a glance.
